The Roboexotica festival has a cocktail robots award with five categories. Magnus Wurzer will in this article introduce to these categories.

Plasmastaub is a Cocktail-Robot built by students of the FH-Joanneum (University of Applied Sciences) in Graz, AUSTRIA. With it they won the guzman-award for the best serving robot at the ROBOEXOTICA Festival for Cocktail-Robotics 2009 in Vienna.

Robot awards at the Roboexotica:
"First year we had to pretend a lot. We called it an international festival because friends from Germany were also coming and showing something. And it turned out really nice. People really liked those crazy creations not all of which made a cocktail but we considered that in our awards which we give out since then - the Annual Cocktail Robot Awards, which have always had five categories".

"1) Serving cocktails, that is delivering only, then 2) mixing cocktails. 3) third is conversation, which includes bar tending conversation or general cocktail bar conversation. Then we had the category where we hadn't any entries for a few years which was called "Lighting cigars and cigarettes" first. It took a couple years until we could motivate the people to contribute to that category. And it turned out it's a really great category which we've had to rename to 4) "Fire and smoke" and "Smoking culture" and different names fitting the specific entries in that year. But I think now we like the more general term which I would have to look up on our web-page. But that leaves 5) the fifth category which is other achievements in the sector of electronic cocktail culture which is the "anything goes" category".

"We never had to complain about too few exhibits, there was always place for something crazy that someone built that fit nicely into a cocktail environment, or did something that could be put into that context. So it was a pretty diverse first exhibition and people liked it".
