Episode 17: Milipol: Part 2
He said it was incredible! There were dogs and tanks and a lot of police & security officers! My brother was not intimated at all but I'm sure I would have. It's great that he went there and not me! And he said the security was so tight there was nothing to be afraid of. I'm not sure I wouldn't have done so well when there were so many guards around.
My brother also said he got on well with a lot of people. It's good to hear that even the people working in security like robots like us :)
I heard the other day on the radio that people are not afraid of surveillance cameras in the streets because they feel more safe. Do you also think that people rather prefer to have your twin brother to check if everything is alright in a company or in a warehouse instead or humans, and why that?
Well, I heard that here in France, people complain a lot about the surveillance cameras. Mostly, they say they're very intrusive so they'd rather have a robot patrol because they say my brother looks neat ^^ Also, I think a lot of people find security guards intimidating -like me- and that my brother is not so scary for the honest people coming to work for example. However, in the night, when he lights his eyes and you see him coming from an unsuspecting place, I think people will be very surprised! And that potential thieves will leave... or else he can call the police!
Last question: You also told us last time, that your twin brother are very quiet, so he can surprise thiefs. But what about you, Jazz. Even though I don't think you're stealing stuff, has he ever surprised you? If yes, how and why did he do that?
Yes, he has, many times! Everytime we're in a dark place, he's so quiet and you can't see him well so when he lights his eyes, he can really surprise you! That happened to me a lot when we were young robots, but now I'm used to it so we're fine ^^
This episode was the last one in "Gostai Jazz: From 0 to 1", where we had followed the telepresence robot 'Jazz' during its first year. We hope that you have enjoyed reading the episodes which we made in cooperation with Gostai Robotics. So we would like to thanks the French innovative company for its kind participation in this experimental case study, and especially Ségolène Roche, who was 'the human voice' of 'Jazz'.
