ENTER: DATAPOLIS: 5th Art:Sci:Tech Biennale Prague: Opening

Introduction:
In the days between April 14th to 17th 2011 the 5th ENTER Biennale took place in Prague. It contained a diverse program, with an exhibition, workshops, a symposium and some audiovisual and dance performances. This years title of the biennale is DATAPOLIS, which is a term, that according to the organizers, "refers to contemporary art as well as to art of our future, and works a great deal with the human relationship to both the environment in the broad sense and to contemporary cityscapes in the narrow sense."

Vive Les Robots! will cover the event in the Czech capital, with special focus on three artist, who more or less in connected with robotics and interaction. Teresa Almeida is working with fashion and softcore technologies. Erik Conrad's work Palpable City is connected with wearable computing, embodiment, and netwerk. And, Niki Passath's Zoe is a dynamic study in human-robots-interactions.


Opening:
Many people came to the opening at the new National Technical University in the Prague suburb Dejvicka. In the entrence hall of the exhibition there were many examples on new media art today. In the work MIMODEK by Marie Poláková & Jonathan Cremieux, MIMODEK is reflecting by the behaviour of the visitors, and Aaron Koblin has made a visualization tool for SMS-messages, in his video installation: Visualizing Amsterdam SMS-Messages. Upstairs you could find Kinetic art work from H.O and Varvara Guljajeva & Mar Canet in their works: Kazamidori and The Rhythm of City. Finally you could find examples of bio-art in 7K: New Life Form by Sasa Spacal and robotic art in Machine 2 Fish by the French art-collective, Dardex Mort2Faim Art Group.
